This half term we have been focusing on the topic 'All about me.' We have been looking at who we are, what similarities we have and what our differences are. We have also looked at our families and where we live and what our houses are like. The children have enjoyed a variety of activities that have really helped them learn more about themselves, their families and also their friends.
It is important for children to learn about themselves and their families as it gives them them a sense of awareness and belonging. It is important to celebrate children uniqueness, this enables them to build a secure sense of themselves build their self esteem.
All children are unique. There is a recognition that every child brings with them a rich heritage when they arrive in an early education setting. Their homes, families, life experiences and beliefs provide the bedrock to their identity. The differences between children offer wonderful opportunities to learn about and celebrate these differences.
